Read Aloud Book of the Week: "Amazing Grace"
Our Read Aloud Book of the Week was "Amazing Grace," a heartwarming story that took us on a journey through the world of self-identity and confidence. Grace's determination and belief in herself inspired our students to embrace their unique qualities and know that they can achieve anything they set their minds to.
Math: Exploring Patterns and Building Models
In math, we continued our exploration of patterns and building models of numbers and letters. Our students enthusiastically engaged in hands-on activities that made learning math not just educational but also a lot of fun. The progress they are making is impressive!
Science: Exploring Light and its Properties
Science class was an exciting adventure this week as we explored the concept of light and how it moves through objects. Our students' curiosity knows no bounds, and their questions and observations during experiments demonstrated their keen interest in the world around them.
Special Guest Visit: Dentist Dr. Peschak and Dragon
On Friday, we had a special guest visit our classroom, Dentist Dr. Peschak, and his trusty water-squirting dragon with big teeth. Dr. Peschak shared valuable teeth care techniques with our students in a fun and engaging way. Laughter echoed through the room as the water-squirting dragon made everyone giggle with surprise. It was a joyful and educational experience for all!
As we wrap up this week, we want to express our gratitude to you, our wonderful families, for your unwavering support and trust in us. Together, we are helping our students thrive and grow. Looking Ahead-Next week promises even more exciting adventures in learning and growth. We can't wait to see what new discoveries our students will make!

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We hope this newsletter finds you well. It's been an exciting week in our special education multiple disabilities classroom as we celebrated "Apple Week" during the first full week of September. Apples have been the core (pun intended!) of our learning adventures, and we're thrilled to share our activities and accomplishments with you.
Literacy Adventures: We delved into the world of apples through literature. We enjoyed reading books such as "Apple Trouble," "Ten on Top," and "The Biggest Apple Ever." These stories engaged our students and ignited their imagination.
Creative Arts: Our classroom transformed into an apple orchard as students got creative with paintbrushes sponges and craft materials. We painted and crafted apple trees, as well as apple cores, fostering fine motor skills and creativity.
Math Magic: Apples also became our math tools of the week. We counted apple seeds, solved word problems, and tackled equations using apple manipulatives. This hands-on approach made math not only educational but also loads of fun!
Reading Groups: Our reading groups focused on sequencing, comprehension, and spelling. These sessions aimed to enhance our students' language skills and promote a love for reading.
Science Adventures: In our science corner, we whipped up homemade apple pie playdough and explored color mixing using milk, water, and food coloring to represent the different shades of apples. These experiments sparked curiosity and creativity.
Culinary Creations: For our math recipe of the week, we baked mini apple pie cups. Our students actively participated in the cooking process, fostering essential life skills and having a delicious time.
Outdoor Explorations: We took advantage of the beautiful September weather by spending time outdoors and enjoying a nature walk through the trees. This allowed our students to connect with the natural world around them.
Social Studies and Collaboration: In Social Studies, we emphasized the importance of teamwork and working with a partner. These activities encouraged cooperation and communication.
It has been a week filled with hands-on learning, creativity, and, most importantly, a deep appreciation for apples! We're proud of the hard work and enthusiasm our students have shown throughout Apple Week. We couldn't have asked for a better group of learners.
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to another week of exciting adventures in our classroom. If you have any questions or would like to get involved, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Next week Dr. Matthew Pischek DMD -Dentist in Magnolia Springs will be visiting our class on Friday!!
Wishing you a wonderful weekend ahead!
Warm regards,

Week Ending September 1, 2023
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this newsletter finds you well and that you had a wonderful week with your children. We've had an exciting and productive week in our Elementary Special Education Class, and I'm thrilled to share our highlights with you.
Our Read-Aloud Adventure with "Caps for Sale"
This week, we embarked on a reading adventure with the delightful story "Caps for Sale." Our students enjoyed exploring the world of the peddler and his caps. We engaged in discussions and activities related to the story, fostering language development and comprehension skills.
Exploring Patterns Everywhere
Patterns have been a central theme in our class this week. We've been exploring patterns in letters, numbers, colors, and shapes. We even ventured into the world of poetry, searching for word patterns that make language so fascinating. Our students are becoming pattern detectives!
Vocational Skills and Outdoor Adventures
Our students have been enthusiastically using their new vocational skills tools. It's been heartwarming to witness their growth and independence. The cooler weather has allowed us to spend more time outdoors, where our students have been able to explore and go on exciting adventures.
Recipe Math: Sweet Cinnamon Popcorn
Our culinary adventure this week involved making sweet cinnamon popcorn. The students used all five senses as they measured out ingredients and enjoyed the delicious treats they created. This activity not only honed their math skills but also provided a delightful sensory experience.
ASL Progress
In our ongoing American Sign Language (ASL) journey, we've been learning new signs each day. During our morning meetings, we incorporate ASL through speaking, singing, and signing. Our students have mastered essential signs like "help," "more," "yes," and "bathroom" and are diligently working on others such as "again," "please," "sorry," and "thank you."
Weekly Home Activities
You may have noticed the weekly home activities in your folders. Some weeks, there's a space for "I am working for," allowing you to choose a reward that motivates your child. Rewards can range from a goldfish cracker, a book, playtime, video time, tickles, a dance party, playdough, and more. Each child is unique, and these rewards help keep them engaged and motivated in their learning journey.
Thank you for entrusting us with your children. It's a privilege to see their growth, achievements, and smiles each day. If you have any questions or would like to discuss your child's progress, please don't hesitate to reach out. We're here to support your child's education and development in every way possible.
note: Dr. Matthew Pischek DMD -Dentist in Magnolia Springs will be visiting our class on Friday the 15th of September!

Elementary Special Education Classroom Weekly Newsletter
Friday August 25th
Dear Families,
I hope this message finds you well. I want to express my gratitude for your understanding and patience during my recent absence due personal reasons. It's heartwarming to be back in the classroom with your lovely little ones, and I truly missed their energy and enthusiasm.
Your children have been making wonderful progress. They've been diving into the world of glue while working with shapes, colors, and expressing their creativity through art. Their engagement and dedication to learning have been inspiring, and I'm thrilled to see their curiosity flourish.
I want to share that I faced two challenges during my absence: the passing of my mother-in-law and an unfortunate broken hand. Although I'm currently in a cast that I'll be wearing for the next six weeks, I want you to know that I'm fully back in spirit, heart, and mind. While the cast may limit some physical activities, it won't dampen my enthusiasm for teaching and fostering a positive learning environment.
Our classroom routines are becoming more established, and it's an absolute joy to witness the growth in your children's understanding and abilities. Their dedication to their studies and their interactions with each other make every moment in the classroom a rewarding experience.
Thank you for entrusting your children's education to me. Here's to a wonderful week ahead!
Warm regards,
